Baptism

    Questions About Baptism

Please reach us at communitychristianbeattyville@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

    1. Baptism represents the washing away of one's sins and the beginning of a new life in Christ. "And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name." Acts 22:16
    2. Baptism symbolizes a believer's identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. "3Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." Romans 6:3-4
    3. Baptism is viewed as a public declaration, an outward profession of an individual's personal, inward faith in Jesus Christ. "They believed Philip as he preached good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ. They were baptized, both men and women." Acts 8:12

    1. To Obey Christ’s Command

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

    Matthew 28:18–20

    2. To Publicly Profess Faith in Him

“Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.”

    Matthew 10:32

    3. To Commit to Christ

"So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of  you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ."

    Galatians 3:26-29

Once you decide to make Jesus, the Lord and Savior of your life, you are ready to be baptized!
